Ian Patterson and Samantha Olszewski
Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School sophomore students Ian Patterson and Samantha Olszewski have been recognized as Carson Scholars, an award based on academic excellence and community service.
The Carson Scholarship Fund was founded in 1994 by pediatric neurosurgeon Benjamin S. Carson, M.D., and his wife Candy to encourage students to excel early in life.
Both were originally named Carson Scholars in grade school, Ian in fifth grade, Samantha in sixth, at which time they received $1,000 college scholarships. If Carson Scholars continue to excel in service and academics, their status is renewed annually. They will be among about 100 Carson Scholars in the Pittsburgh region to be recognized at an annual banquet at the William Penn Omni Hotel this April.
Ian, a musical theater major, enrolled at Lincoln Park three years ago. He is a son of Chuck and Cheri Patterson of Beaver Falls.
Samantha, a media arts major, enrolled at Lincoln Park two years ago. She is a daughter of Jennifer and Joseph Olszewski of Darlington.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
