Open auditions for aspiring young musical theater performers are to be held in early September for the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center production of the musical “Annie.”
“Annie” is scheduled for six performances, Nov. 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21, in the 750-seat mainstage theater at Lincoln Park. Gavan Pamer, Lincoln Park’s artistic director, will direct the show.
“The production will be a fully realized Broadway style show with a complete professional staff,” said Pamer. “Every year for the Tri-State Musical we invite student performers, musicians and stage technicians from surrounding areas of Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia to be a part of the show, to learn from our experienced staff and to perform in this fantastic facility.”
Auditions for children in grades 1-8 are to be scheduled Thursday, Sept. 9. Auditions for performers and musicians in grades 9-12 will be scheduled Sept. 13-19, and interviews for technicians and apprentices are planned for Sept. 26.
To schedule an audition appointment, people may call 724.643.9004, extension 1496. Forms and additional information are available at www.tristatemusical.org.
Student performers, musicians, technicians and apprentices will have the opportunity to work with a professional director, choreographer, music director, conductor and design staff. Participants will receive in-depth theater training while learning about the theatrical process from auditions through casting, rehearsals and performances. Rehearsals will span seven weeks culminating in two weekends of performances.
“The experience will be fun and exciting but will reflect the standards and practices of a professional show on Broadway,” said Pamer.
