Installation Art students host Park(ing) Day

[vc_row fullwidth=”yes”][vc_column][vc_column_text]Lincoln Park’s Installation Art class hosted a small-scale installation to join in the global Park(ing) Day celebration on Friday, Sept. 15.

 PARK(ing) Day is an annual worldwide event that encourages artists, designers and citizens to transform parking spots into temporary public parks or active activated spaces using installations, according to ParkingDay.org. Installations can include anything from a bike repair station to oversized games to call attention to the need for more urban open space.

 The Installation Art class used the endangerment of bees as a theme to raise awareness in a fun, informative and interactive way. The display was set up in the parking spaces in front of Alumni Hall.

 Pieces of fruit were distributed and imitation honeycombs were used to distribute bee facts and bee jokes. A honeycomb wall was also put on display for students to add short notes or bee pictures.
