MIDLAND, Pa. (November 6, 2014) – Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School Chief Executive Officer, P.K. Poling, today announced the school achieved a score of 81.1 on Pennsylvania’s 2013-2014 School Performance Profile – a more than five-point jump from last year and better than most of the schools from which it draws its students.
“This is great news, and something we are all very proud of,” Poling said. “We think it’s a positive reflection on our approach, our curriculum, our teachers, and of course, our talented and enthusiastic students, and it underscores our commitment to academics, as well as the arts.”
The Pennsylvania School Performance Profile took into consideration a variety of data, including math and reading test scores on state tests. Last year, Lincoln Park scored 76.
“It’s always helpful to have the data upon which to build. We used last year’s to get to this point, and our teachers and administrators will use this data moving forward.”
Poling said the SPP also serves as a tool for parents to compare neighboring schools, and for the general public to look at the academic performance measures of every public school in Pennsylvania. As importantly, it offers a resource to education leaders to analyze performance indicators as they relate to achievement, and encourage best practices.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Education, this year’s School Performance Profile is the first year that impacts teacher evaluations. It also meets requirements of the No Child Left Behind waiver.
“I applaud our teachers, as well as our parents and guardians for the part they played in this achievement,” Poling said.
