Departments & Student Life

Our mission at LP is to produce well-rounded students by focusing on three critical areas. The first, of course, is through the comprehensive arts education we provide. The second is through our academic courses, taught by PA-certified teachers in a variety of subject areas. And the third is the rich student life we offer outside the classroom, including extracurricular activities like clubs and student government.

These three key areas of LP combine to create outstanding graduates who are fully prepared for any opportunity they want to pursue!

Arts Departments

There are seven arts departments at LP. Each one provides an intensive curriculum designed to accomplish two goals.

The first goal is that we train students to be successful in college, and as professionals, in the artistic field of their choice. The second goal is that  our rigorous arts education also prepares students for a wide variety of other careers.

You can find LP graduates at top colleges across the country, studying in fields from science to medicine, from law to engineering. You can find them serving their country in the military. And, of course, you can find them pursuing their artistic careers, in front of audiences, and behind the scenes.

Explore our seven arts departments—and find the one that’s the perfect fit for your artistic passion and future!

Academics

While LP is and always will be an arts school, academics are every bit as important. Students at LP are challenged by a rigorous academic curriculum that covers the four core academic areas (English, math, science, and social studies), as well as foreign languages. Our block schedule allows for intensive and focused study in these subjects.

Lincoln Park challenges high-performing students with accelerated math courses for middle school students. And at the high school level, our College in High School program offers ambitious students a chance to rack up college credits while here at LP, for a fraction of the cost. Every academic department offers College in High School (CHS) courses, to fast-track college careers early!

Student Life

At LP, students have the opportunity to participate in all the activities of a traditional high school. There are school dances, including a prom in the spring. There are athletic events throughout the year to attend. Special guest speakers are scheduled regularly, and there is a wide variety of clubs and student government organizations that LP students can join. These groups represent arts and academic interests, and more are being added all the time. Both in- and outside the classroom, our rich and diverse student life offers something for everyone at LP!

Lincoln Park high school students can join up to three clubs, as well as Student Council. These clubs meet at dedicated times during the school day, and serve a wide variety of interests. New clubs are being added all the time! Current clubs at LP include:

  • The LPPACS Student Council offers dedicated leaders a chance to join its mission of providing unity, school spirit, and a sense of community to LP. Any students in grades 9-12 are eligible to apply.

  • Peer Pals is a student mentorship program dedicated to providing new students with the resources to thrive at LPPACS. Any returning student who has been at LP for at least 2 years and is in grades 9-12 is eligible and encouraged to apply to be a mentor.

  • The LP Songwriting Club is for anyone interested in learning to express themselves through songwriting! Collaborate with fellow songwriters and test out material with a kind and helpful audience.

  • B+ Society, a student-founded club exclusive to LP, looks to provide a proper space for young artists to share, learn, and advocate for mental and physical well-being.

  • Intersections is a student-led club that strives to educate, empower, and equip students with the ability to address social issues regarding, but not limited to, equality vs. equity, racial injustice, and discrimination of all kinds.

  • Live Poets Society is open to 9th-12th grade LP students who will meet to workshop and share personal poetry, discuss poetry in the world, host, attend, and participate in poetry competitions (including Poetry Out Loud, slam competitions, open mics, and more) throughout the school year.

  • Flourish in Faith is a faith-based club which focuses on fellowship and outreach that all are welcome to join. We will engage in serving others, deliver hope and encouragement, and strive to model what it means to live out our faith.

  • Vibrant Shades is a club that embodies the LGBTQIA+ community. Our main goal is to represent and support the community in a positive way. Vibrant Shades is determined to provide a safe space for all students, regardless of background, socioeconomic status, or ability.

  • Model UN (United Nations) is a simulation of the functioning organs of the UN. Participants take on the roles of delegates and speakers to represent a country using debate, research, and discussion to help solve problems.

  • The Youth Ambassador Program (YAP) is a youth-based mental health club operating in multiple Beaver County school districts. The club’s main objectives are to increase mental health awareness, decrease the stigma around mental health, and cultivate relationships among youths in other schools’ programs.

  • The Black Student Union (BSU) at Lincoln Park is dedicated to fostering an inclusive community that celebrates Black excellence, tradition, history, and empowerment.
