Four Steps to Enrollment

Want to attend Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School? Just follow these four easy steps.

STEP 1: Learn About the LP Arts Majors

We encourage you and your family to learn more about charter schools and carefully review our website to fully appreciate the Lincoln Park experience. We also encourage you to fill out our inquiry form, which is the first step in the admissions process.

To apply to LP, you must select a major. Lincoln Park has seven arts majors. Six of them accept students in grades 7-12. They are Dance, Media Arts, Music, Theatre, Writing & Publishing, and Health Science & the Arts. One of the majors, Pre-Law and the Arts, has students in grades 9-12 only.

You can learn more about all seven majors in the Departments section of this website. To apply, you will need to pick one arts major in which to be evaluated.

STEP 2: Attend an Admissions Seminar

There are several admissions seminars scheduled during the school year for students who want to attend LP the following year.

The first seminar will be an Early Decision seminar, held here at Lincoln Park. This fall seminar will be for students who want to lock in their spot at LP next school year.

There will also be two Winter Admissions Seminars in January. At these seminars, LP arts directors and staff will be available to give more information about their programs, and about the school. All our in-person seminars will also include tours of our campus. Additional seminars on- and off-campus, as well as virtual seminars, may be added as needed.

STEP 3: Be Evaluated

When you attend an admissions seminar, you’ll have the chance to sign up for an arts evaluation in one department of your choice. Your arts director will email you a link to an online application that you’ll complete before your evaluation.

We’ve prepared a handy How to Prepare for Your Evaluation guide for your reference. The guide provides instructions about how to prepare and what to bring to your evaluation. Please review carefully before your evaluation.

All evaluations are conducted at Lincoln Park, where you’ll also meet one-on-one with the staff of your arts department. Some evaluations are based on performance, while others are based on portfolios of your best work.

STEP FOUR: Get Accepted

All students who apply to LP will be notified by mail of our decision. Students who attend the Early Decision Seminar and the November evaluation date will be notified before the end of the calendar year. Students who attend the January seminars and the spring seminars, and who have been evaluated, will be notified by mid-May.

We’ll hold a special Newcomers Night in early June to honor our newest students. An if you are accepted to LP, you’ll also get information on our new student orientation, which will occur in August.
