MIDLAND, Pa. (March 14, 2018) – Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School seeks to fill an opening on its board of trustees following the retirement of a longtime board member.
Lincoln Park is a public school based in the Borough of Midland and is chartered by the Midland Borough School District. The board seat is open to residents of any county in Pennsylvania; applicants need not be residents of Beaver County to be considered for this post.
The board seat opened when longtime board member and President Chris Shovlin of Brighton Township announced his retirement in early January. A Midland native, Shovlin had served on the board since prior to the school’s opening in 2006. “It has been one of the top honors of my life to serve on the school board at Lincoln Park and in my hometown. I really feel it’s time for people with fresher, new and more innovative ideas to become involved,” Shovlin said.
“I want to thank the teachers, artists, administration, staff, and especially the nearly 800 families who send their children to Lincoln Park every day to be immersed in an arts-infused yet academically rigorous education for making this a greater place than anyone could have imagined,” Shovlin said.
“Chris has always put the kids first. Any decisions he’s made, it was always about the kids — and that’s our board. That’s why we’re all here,” said Board Vice President Scott Portonova.
Interested candidates should be committed to continuing the academic excellence of the school and to the kind of forward thinking that positions Lincoln Park at the forefront of advances in creative education and educational opportunities in a fiscally responsible manner.
Interested individuals should submit a letter of introduction and a resume to Nicole Borosky, Business Manager, Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School, 1 Lincoln Park, Midland, Pennsylvania, 15059 no later than March 23, 2018. The Board of Trustees nominating committee will review and interview interested applicants.
