Thirty-six students from Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School have been inducted into the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society. The 2010 Induction Class had one senior, seven juniors and 28 sophomores.
The traditional candlelight induction ceremony was held Tuesday, April 13, at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center in front of family, friends and faculty.
“Membership is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student,” said co-advisor Lindsay Rodgers. “National Honor Society works hard to bring the accomplishments of outstanding students to the attention of parents, teachers and peers in the community.”
Inductees are chosen based on their dedication to the four pillars of NHS: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. All students must maintain a 3.5 or higher grade point average, be involved in extracurricular activities within the school, participate in community service, and display high standards of honesty and reliability both in and out of school.
This year’s senior inductee was Benjamin Belhumeur.
Junior inductees were: Nicholas Calaseric, Chad Lewis, Angela Marshall, Steven Moon, Kerry Ryan, Maria Sutton and Taylor Trombetta.
Sophomore inductees were: Katherine Brummitt, Angela Buchowski, John Cageao, Kelsi Darby, Emma Garofalo, Joshua Graef, Alexandra Keirs, Taryn Kerfoot, Marissa Kolarosky, Christa Lerch, Marcus Mars, Jane McConnell, Julie McConnell, Amanda McGrogan, Emily Mottes, Sarah Oldiges, Emily Pasquarelli, Andrew Percy, Winston Powell, Shayla Pringle, Amy Ruhl, Julianna Sacco, Savannah Spratt, Hannah Stepanian, Brandon Stettner, Brittanie Terensky, Hannah Vraninin and Caitlin Yarosz.
There are more than 15,000 high school chapters of the National Honor Society in the U.S., all of which strive to give practical meaning to the society’s goals of scholarship, leadership, service and character.
