Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School has been recognized as a Title I Distinguished School for the 2015-16 school year based on exceptional performance.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education, Division of Federal Programs, will honor Lincoln Park as a Distinguished Title I School at the 2016 Title I Improving Schools’ Performance Conference to be held Jan. 30 to Feb. 1 at the Sheraton Station Square in Pittsburgh.
Each year, the Division of Federal Programs honors the top performing Title I schools in Pennsylvania. This is the third year in a row the Midland-based performing arts school has received this award.
“We appreciate the recognition from the Pennsylvania Department of Education,” said P.K. Poling, CEO of Lincoln Park. “This achievement is a direct result of our staff, students and families of Lincoln Park, and our commitment to artistic and academic excellence.”
Lincoln Park received notice of the designation in a letter from Susan McCrone, chief, division of federal programs.
“I congratulate you and your staff on the success you are experiencing within your school,” McCrone wrote. “I hope you will seriously considering allowing your staff to share those experiences and successes with the rest of the Commonwealth.”
The Division of Federal Programs selects top-performing schools based on the approved Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Flexibility Waiver designation of High Achievement and High Progress.
High Achievement schools are the highest 5 percent of Title I schools as measured by aggregate math and reading PSSA test scores or Keystone scores that have also met all Annual Measurable Objectives.
High Progress schools are the highest 5 percent Title I schools based on aggregate progress in closing the achievement gap in Reading and Mathematics for PSSA and/or Algebra I/Literature for Keystone Exams combined for the All Student group and the Historically Underperforming Student group.
A total of 96 Title I schools in Pennsylvania earned the Distinguished Schools designation based on the criteria, including three elementary schools in Beaver County. But Lincoln Park was the only secondary school in Beaver County and one of four charter schools in PA named a Title I Distinguished School for 2015-16.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
