Nearly 150 students were inducted into five honor societies recently at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School.
The second annual “Evening of Honors” ceremony saw 58 new members inducted into the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society, 25 into the National Honor Society of Dance Arts, 11 into the National Technical Honor Society, 34 into the International Thespian Society, and 19 into the Tri-M Music Honor Society.
“It was a great success as students from all majors came together and were recognized for their artistic and academic excellence,” school principal Lindsay Rodgers said.
The May 17 event also honored 78 previously inducted seniors, 47 of whom are in the National Honor Society, 14 in the National Technical Honor Society, 14 in the National Honor Society of Dance Arts, 23 in the International Thespian Society, and 21 in the Tri-M Music Honor Society.
Rodgers said many seniors earned membership in two or more societies and the junior class has several members in each society, as well.
“It is honor enough to have membership to one society, but many of our students are recognized by two or even three of these,” she said.
Society advisors gave speeches and inductees and senior members recited membership pledges, promising to uphold the organizations’ ideals.
Inductees received certificates and membership pins. Seniors received honors cords to drape over their gowns during their graduation ceremony.
Advisors are Mia Frank and Brena Price for National Honor Society, Lillian Pontis for National Technical Honor Society, Jenn Verba for National Honor Society of Dance Arts, Tom Schaller for the International Thespian Society, and Melissa Holman and Christiana Howell for Tri-M Music Honor Society
