MIDLAND (Apr. 10, 2017) — Two teens at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School from Washington and Beaver Counties recently released their debut albums on various music platforms.
Halle Martin, a sophomore Music major from Chippewa, just released the album The Real Winner. This album includes seven songs written by Martin.
“It’s some of my earliest attempts at songwriting and song making,” says Martin. “A lot of it is about being a teenage girl, and being everywhere all the time. I just want to figure out what’s going on and who I am, but (it’s about) being content with the mess anyway.”
She describes her album as indie-pop. The most popular songs on the album so far are the danceable “Paying Debts” and “You,” while Martin’s personal favorite is the spare, electronic “Boundaries.”
“Halle is young, but extremely talented,” says Dr. Todd Goodman, the director of artistic studies at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center, and one of Martin’s instructors at the school. “She brings a fresh perspective to the kinds of sounds that are popular now.”
Meanwhile, Joel Dudzik, a senior Media major from Washington, has released his first album, The J Hole, which he wrote and produced in his home studio.
His album includes fourteen songs that have a broad house music feel to them.
“A lot of the songs on there are actually really old, like up to a year old,” says Dudzik. “Not every song you’re going to make is going to be awesome, but every now and then there’s a good one that comes out.”
A song Dudzik recommends to listeners is “The Gorillas Gotta Run,” driven by a distorted, catchy synthesizer riff.
These two albums can be purchased and downloaded on any popular music streaming app such as Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music, and Google Play.
