Former Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra trombonist delivers master class at Lincoln Park
Peter Steiner, former trombonist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, visited the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School campus on Dec. 11 for a performance and master class with students.
At 23 years old, Steiner was appointed trombonist of the Vienna State Opera and Vienna Philharmonic for the 2016-17 season, according to his website. He had previously served as principal trombonist with the Colorado Symphony for the 2014-15 season. He has also performed as guest trombonist for numerous ensembles, including the Munich Philharmonic, Staatskapelle Dresden, New York Philharmonic, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Symphony Orchestra, and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, according to his biography.
He has traveled extensively around the globe and has been featured in numerous performances, concerts, festivals, and ensembles, including a three-month world tour in 2017-18 of the United States, Europe, Asia and South America with Constanze Hochwartner (piano/organ) as Duo Steiner-Hochwartner.
Steiner began his studies at the Music Conservatory in his hometown of Bolzano, Italy before continuing his study at The Mozarteum of Salzburg in Austria. In 2016, he graduated from The Juilliard School in New York City with a performance diploma. He is currently a performing artist for the Thein Instrument Company and performs on his signature model “Bel Canto.”
