MIDLAND (KDKA) ― Some local students were honored Tuesday for promoting safe driving among their peers.

The students at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Academy are winners of the Ford “Belt It Out” music video competition.
“I just got my permit and getting ready to get my license and a lot of kids, it’s something we all face and something we all need help with,” Chalisse Monroe, a student, said.
Each walked away with a $5,000 savings bond.
For Amber Nicole Ardolino, it meant coming in a day after leg surgery with some prodding from mom.
“She said I had to turn in all of my books, but we were surprised with this assembly, which was really cool,” she said.
Levi Keller played the drums and Trey Singletary also had a part.
“Originally, I was supposed to be the man behind the music, behind the words, and I ended up rapping representing,” he said.
The contest, sponsored by Ford, was judged by nationally-known singer/songwriter Kate Voegele.
Judges say the winning video stood out.
“It was above and beyond most of the other ones by far,” Jim Graham, of the Ford Motor Company Fund, said. “I mean, personally, they’re all good, but this one was exceptional
